My first ever game jam entry!

You are a thief, you have managed to obtain the deed for this all but abandoned keep and are posing as its rightful owner so you can steal as much of their hoards before your real identity is discovered.  But maybe you delved too deep into the darkness this time. Perhaps there is a good reason the rightful owner has stayed far away...

In this game you search your environment to find loot for money, use that money to buy tools, consumables or keys. Keys progress you to the next level, simply by the key then interact with it. 

To take an item into the level with you, ensure you place the item in your inventory with right click. 

 This game jam was my big inspiration to finally force myself to stick to learning a game engine. Previously I had tried learning Unity and Unreal but could never get past a few small projects. However this time I wanted to try Godot after hearing so much good about it. And I'm glad I did, And with this game jam project as my inspiration to finally make a game from start to finish I went to the races and this is the result. I must admit its not exactly what I first had in mind. But I'm proud of what I accomplished considering I had never used the engine for anything. And only just tried the engine days before this game jam started. I made it my goal to bring in as many mechanics from games I liked that felt thematic for the chosen "Haunted Keep" theme. Taking inspiration from the old "Thief" series and indie horror "Voices of the Void" for much of my development. Originally I wanted a more open world experience where you could freely roam the castle. But time constraints and my having never made a 3D level before limited me a good deal. So I scaled things back to a linear experience that demo'd all the different mechanics to the best of my ability.

AI Disclosure. AI art was used for the cover image, and ChatGPT helped me fix bugs in the code whenever I got stumped and the internet was of no help. (altho most of the time it just made me feel stupid for realizing I misspelled a word...)
